Road and Traffic Treatments

Starting in Daylesford, over 2000 cyclists will ride in this inaugural event through the beautiful countryside of Hepburn, Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander Shires. The ride will pass the towns of Kyneton, Malmsbury, Elphinston, Faraday, Taradale, Harcourt, Walmer, Maldon, Newstead, Franklinford, and Hepburn Springs before returning to Daylesford.

To ensure the safety of both riders and car; the course will have reduced speed limits and traffic management on intersections to create a safe course for both users. Suggested detours will be in place and are outlined above to avoid delays when traveling around the course. There will be no Road Closures for this event. Please take caution and drive safely when overtaking riders.

For further information please see or phone 9595 3000 or 0448 813 433.

Cyclists will complete either a 146km, 63km or a 33km recreational ride course with sections through wineries, springs and rolling countryside. With expected numbers of approximately 2,000 in the first year we have plans to grow this event in future years and create one of the most spectacular ‘destination rides’  in Australia.

Suggested Detours to avoid delay

Due to increased riders in the area and speed reductions in place. WE suggest the following detours

  • Travelling from Daylesford to Kyneton; Suggested Detour along Daylesford – Trentham Rd (C317) / Kyneton-Trentham Rd (C318), avoiding delays on Midland Hwy (A300), Malmsbuy Rd (C316) and Springhill Rd.
  • Travelling from South from Newstead/Maldon to Daylesford; Suggested Detour along Newstead-Guildford Rd to Guildford then use Midland Hwy to Daylesford to avoid delays of riders climbing slowly on Daylesford Hepburn Road and Daylesford– Newstead Road.

Riders will be briefed in the lead up to the event and at the start line that normal road rules apply and to ride no more than two abreast. Please take care when passing cyclists.
